Yin yoga is a slow practice of mainly floor-based poses. Each pose is held in stillness for a long period (3 + minutes) in order to go deeper than the superficial muscles and target connective tissues to improve joint mobility and nourish ligaments, tendons, cartilage and bones for optimal functioning. Yin yoga is influenced by Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and ancient Taoist philosophy, and poses help stimulate qi (chi)flow. Yin is a practice of finding stillness and serenity. It deeply nourishes the body, mind and spirit and you will leave feeling calm and light yet with energies restored. Yin is suitable for all levels of fitness and is a great compliment to other forms of yoga.

Yin and Yang are Taoist concepts that describe the two relative qualities present in everything, they are considered opposite, interdependent elements that need to be in harmony for good health and optimal functioning. Yin/Yang Flow provides the benefits of a dynamic, fun, standing sequence followed by passive, long held Yin yoga shapes to cool down, and connect you to the deeper parts of your body, mind and emotions.
The Yang portion of the class will lift your heart rate and spirits, strengthen your muscles and challenge your concentration. There is some choreography involved.
No prior experience is required to enjoy this class. All you need is curiosity and a spirit of openness.
